The stories here probably didn't happen.
Archive Fictions tells short, clearly labeled, probably made-up stories over public domain archive footage: old newsreels, government films, and home movies. The narrator is dry. The events probably didn't happen. The towns, the people, and their decisions probably never existed.
The footage is real. It was filmed for other reasons, by people who had no idea what we were about to say over it. The original films, their makers, and the people who appear in them have no connection to these stories.
About the catalog cards
The catalog is written in the manner of an archive finding aid, with a straight face. House accession and reel numbers (for example “Acc. 1954.001”) are this channel’s own numbering, not the numbers of any real institution. The “scope note” on each card describes the story, which probably didn't happen. The “source reels” are real public domain films, cited as the Internet Archive catalogues them. They supplied pictures only and do not document anything in the story.
